- Southampton civic chiefs have pushed back plans for a Clean Air Zone in the city, and will now submit proposals at the end of January – two months after originally billed. [16th November 2018]
What we know so far
Southampton City Council's consultation on Clean Air Zone plans closed on the 13th September. A charge zone was proposed and agreed (see below) but widespread opposition spurred a rethink and all plans for a charging zone have been dropped. Central Government has signed off on the new plan, which focuses on other green initiatives.
