What we know so far
Southampton City Council's consultation on Clean Air Zone plans closed on the 13th September.A charge zone was proposed and agreed (see below) but widespread opposition spurred a rething and all plans for a charging zone have been dropped. Central Government has signed off on the new plan, which focuses on other green initiatives.
Southampton Council are due to formally announce on 22nd January 2019 that there will no longer be any charging measures implemented - instead a raft of non-charging measures will be implemented in an effort to improve air quality. This comes after a fierce public backlash against charging proposals.
