Ryder taking responsibility

As a leading player in a high-impact industry, we have a responsibility to go above and beyond any legal obligation to minimise the effects that our operations may have on the environment.

Each of our locations receives an annual environmental audit. What’s more, our drivers are trained in safe and responsible driving that not only increases fuel efficiency, but prolongs our vehicles’ working lives by reducing wear and tear. While to further minimise waste, engine oil and lubricants are collected and recycled and, whenever possible, parts such as axels and gearboxes are reconditioned.

We are committed to:
  • Working with our customers to constantly evaluate the environmental effects of our service and identify the most efficient transport solutions
  • Meeting the requirements of environmental legislation, corporate instructions, customer expectations and other requirements to which we subscribe
  • Preventing pollution through effective purchasing, waste disposal, control of emissions / discharges, and control of noise and other nuisances
  • Seeking ways to ‘reduce, reuse and recycle’ materials or resources, and where necessary disposing of waste materials safely and responsibly
  • Establishing objectives and targets for continual improvement, and measure such improvement through environmental management programmes
  • Complying with ISO 14001 guidelines, and achieving certification to the international environmental standard where appropriate to the business and contractually agreed with the customer
