LEZ Boosts Demand for Long Term Rental at Ryder

Ryder rental depots in the South of England are witnessing high levels of demand for long-term
rental deals following the introduction of the LEZ in London.

The introduction of the LEZ, coupled with long lead times of the supply of new vehicles, has
seen an increasing number of companies look towards rental vehicles as the solution to meet
the requirements of delivering in Greater London, comments Nigel Martin, Ryder’s director of
commercial vehicles and rental sales.

“Our entire rental fleet is LEZ compliant and there was such a huge level of enquiries for LEZcompliant
rental vehicles ahead of the February 4th deadline that we took the decision to refocus
on trucks above 7.5 tons and increase the numbers available in Southern depots. This
has ensured that we have sufficient vehicles to meet the demands on existing and new
customers with more than ever looking to rent for period of 12 months or more.”
