Trainee Technician Apprenticeship

Tools of the Trade

Ryder Europe is always searching for talented people to join our Trainee Technician Apprenticeship to be developed into tomorrow's best ‘Heavy Vehicle Repair Technicians’.

The motor industry is one of the fastest moving industries where new skills are required all the time. With excellent opportunities and career progression Ryder prides itself as being one of the best organisations in this industry. So, for a career full of opportunities and development, where learning to use a PC is as important as using a spanner, our Trainee Technician Apprenticeship is just what you are looking for!

What we want from a Trainee Technician…

We are looking for ambitious individuals who are enthusiastic about learning and developing a successful career within engineering. Our Trainee Technicians need to be confident, self-motivated, keen to work as part of a team and will have achieved 4 GCSE’s grade C or above (must include Maths, English and a Science) or equivalent.

… and what will we provide in return?

The Trainee Technician Apprenticeship is a 3-year programme all paid for by Ryder, it involves 2-week blocks to Bristol College 4 times a year. It will be at Bristol College that Ryder Trainees study to achieve both an NVQ Level 3 and the ‘Institute of the Motor Industry Certificate in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair’.

Ryder Trainees will learn how to:

Repair and service a variety of vehicles

Carry out vehicle examinations

Inspections and fault diagnosis

Support will be continually provided both at Bristol College and in the workplace to help our Trainees complete a portfolio of work evidence. One of the ways this support is provided is through a ‘buddy’ system, where an experienced Ryder Technician is assigned to a Trainee.

Throughout the 3-year Apprenticeship, Ryder will also provide a number of additional training opportunities, these will include courses in the following areas:

Technical Application

Life Skills i.e. Managing Finances

Health and Safety

IT, with the chance to achieve the ‘European Computer Driving Licence’

On successful completion of the apprenticeship our Trainees will be able to call themselves fully qualified ‘Heavy Vehicle Technicians’, where career options and prospects are endless!
